On getting up at 5 a.m.

First impression through square window,
custard sky beyond the night-dark trees,
so that’s what the raucous solitary seagull
was on about just now.

  1. Oh how I miss the sound of a 'raucous solitary seagull' even at 5am! I love raucous. Wonderful word.

  2. We're only ~ 13 miles (as the raucous seagull flies) from the sea but don't usually hear them at this time of the year ... but my son in Shrewsbury said he heard gulls last week...

  3. Beautiful stone - well captured. The gulls reach Stafford too, later on, in the winter. I have scheduled a stone for tomorrow as I shall be off-line,I too have a raucous gull! Life is full of coincidences.
