Some birds

When they are not flying
some birds run
some hop.
I wonder if they a) do both
and b) if so, why?

    a) Don't think so
    b) Dunno


    I know starlings run and blackbirds hop. I don't think there are any species that do both. It might be related to foot shape.

      Yes indeedy, thank you for that ... it was one of the little brown ones that caught my eye this morning and set me wondering ... (dunnock, probably)
