Imprinted behaviour

Never mind that we’ve had this dishwasher several years
I still step back to avoid the dripping from the door
of the previous one.

  4. This made me smile because I've just had an instantaneous experience of how ingrained habits can become: I went up stairs to measure the mattress (to buy a new one) and automatically took my slippers off at the side!

  6. Ha! And I wonder if I will ever stop pressing the wrong button on my new clothes dryer just because it's in the same spot as the correct button on the old one. Nice stone!

  7. Perhaps even more worrying is the light switch I regularly reach for that has NEVER been there, in thirty-seven years!
